My Fairy Tale Story (4)

I am kind of getting embarrassed at the slow pace this story is being let out. I can’t make any promises but I can only apologise.

CHAPTER SEVEN.
How could Toke do such a thing to him? He had committed himself to her but she had betrayed him. He possibly couldn't be the father of the child. He had been on two kinds of contraceptives because he takes extra care with ladies. He felt relived he had not gotten her some things he planned to get for her. He just couldn't bear the thought of seeing his girlfriend with another man's child in his office, and that was the reason he has to dismiss her. She had cried but he was not moved at all.
Tinuke had called him, fixed an appointment for them to talk but he had not showed up. No amount of begging would make him take her back. She had betrayed his trust in her and he was making her pay for it.
*******. *******. *******
“Toke, just take things easy, the most important thing is that your conscience is clear and you know he is the father of your child. Leave him to his own conscience.”
Tinuke was really worried, with no job, how was Toke going to cope with a child. Personally, she would have been of assistance but was still without a job and depends on her parents.
“Why don't you go and see Tolu? He might be able to talk to him.”
“Tolu has gone out of the country for a course.”
“Maybe you should try and look for a job.”
“Tinuke!!!, who would employ a pregnant woman?”
“Well, we never can say, just try your luck.”
“Well, I will try.”
Thank you so much Tinuke, I wonder what I would have done without you.
******. *******. *******
“You mean Toke is pregnant for another guy?” Tolu asked in disbelief.
“Can u imagine?” that was the short phrased reply he got from Michael.
“Are you sure you are not responsible?” He probed further.
“What do you mean? Can't I take care of a child? I already told you I was protected.”
“I am sorry, but really you know these contraceptives are not a hundred percent effective.”
“Yes I know, but I was double protected.”
“Please let us talk about something else.”
“Maybe you should try and see her, I am sure she has an explanation for this.”
“Not a chance, Tolu.”
********. ********. *******
Toke's luck shined again. She got a job as a housekeeper. It's was beneath what she was doing before but its benefit was what attracted her to it.
She had to reside in the house and she got three meals from the house. Despite her pregnant state she had gotten the job through the sympathy of house owner's son' Folusho Daramola. He had picked an interest in her immediately he saw her and persuaded his mom to employ her.
She moved in almost immediately. Folusho kept her company after the day's job. They talked about things in general, he asked about the father of her baby and she told him everything that happened with Michael. He encouraged her to move on and be strong just for the sake of her baby.
Folusho's girlfriend, Bukola was also of much help to her. They both went to the hospital for her ante natals and she always cheered her up anytime she was down.
Michael was someone she could not forget despite the way he treated her. She still loved him. Folusho had told her any guy could possible act that knowing his confidence in the contraceptive he used.

CHAPTER EIGHT.
After happy and sad months, Toke was delivered of a bouncing Baby Boy. It wasn't easy for her there in the labour room. It made her wonder why her own mother would go through nine months and eventually abandon her.
The baby, who was immediately liked by everyone, was an exact replica of his father. No doctor would waste his time on a DNA test to prove paternity of the child. She wished so much that Michael were here to see his son.
Folusho took the baby who was named Mayokun as his son.
He was the father Michael did not want to be.
******. ********. ********
Everything went on smoothly at Adebayo Group of companies. It has been almost four years that Toke had left and only workers who knew about what happened between her and Michael. Overtime the gossip had died down.
Life was normal for Michael but the Void Toke left was still there in his life. He had not gotten over what she did to him. He had not set his eyes on her since she left and he didn't have a clue about her whereabout. Little gossips he heard said she had moved away from her Palmgrove apartment. No one however mentioned to where she moved.
******. ********. *******
“Mummy”, three-year-old Mayokun called her.
Anytime she looked at him, she always remembered Michael. She always wished he would show up someday. She was quite ok and content with her life, but her son needed his real father.
Folusho and Bukola are now married and reside in Abuja so she saw so little of them.
She had a new job as junior secretary at an oil company, but she resided with the Daramola's. She was more like a child to them now. Mayokun called Folusho's mom Grandma and she was always delighted to show him of anythem they went out or had guests in the house.
Toke however still helped out in the house whenever she had the chance and her effort was always appreciated.
Her son was now in nursery one and damn too sharp for his age.
He was great company to her as well as a contact reminder of His father to her.
One day, your father will change his mind. She always thought.
*******. *******. *******

Moving on to my usual gist.
I will finish this book one day. I am tired already. Damn too lazy to type out a manuscript. Yet I carry it around every day.
“Beautiful Blood”, “Fine Boys”, “Monitored”, “Purple Hibiscus” and a couple more of them. These are Books pending for my reading.
How could I possibly lose touch with writing and reading about the same time?
What have I really been up to?
Work always, and my usual mind games. Nuttie me.
I haven’t been having the best of human relations in recent times, which is not good at all. I am just kinda sticking to one buddy; My bestie for now. At least I am able to put my shrink skills to use in that area, in a very stubborn way though.
Please who is a Surreptitious Romantic? I know of one. I want to know more in case I might want to make comparisons. (Still trying to figure out what it means)
I read a lovely write up over the weekend. It was very much on point. I loved it. The plot was clean and well delivered. I am still looking for the writer. I would have shared here but it’s not my story to tell.
Meanwhile, I need a vacation. October must not elude me on that.
Yoga things might work for me. I need to format my mind.
Boring me today. Not much to talk about.
Have a lovely week ahead!

My Fairy Tale Story (3)

CHAPTER FIVE
‘Longest time Tinuke, you forgot me completely.’
‘I am so sorry Toke, I have been busy lately.’
‘You are looking good, what is your secret?’
‘I don't have a secret.’

It was so good to see Tinuke again after such a long while; She had missed the gist and teasing and it felt so good to have her back.

‘Toke, you are so lucky getting a job at Adebayo's company, at least you are on a regular pay.’
‘It's a relief Tinuke, I am so happy. Anyway forget about my job,’ she cut off Toke. ‘Who is the guy? Please don't tell me you are still single.’
‘Of course you know I am still single.’
‘Jeez!!!. Toke, please release yourself.’
‘I am trying.’

Tinuke's boyfriend had been ever faithful to her. They had been together since secondary school days, precisely SS2 and even after graduation from the university they were still together. Everyone knew they were certainly bound for the altar.

Michael had been taking Toke out on a series of dates, but he still hadn't said anything. He had been into her room twice and was just friendly about it. She couldn't say for a certainty if it was just friendship or he intended to take it further.

After talking as much as they could for the time being and a light meal, Tinuke took her leave. Toke felt relieved that her friend was back. She would be seeing more her.

******. *******. *******

Her tears that night were for the feeling of love. Michael had asked her out and he did it with all sincerity. He told her he had given her enough opportunities to trust in him.

‘Toke,’ he had started, ‘I really don't think you will take me serious because I am your boss. It might sound awkward, but you are all I have dreamt of in a woman. The last few weeks we have been hanging out was all I needed to study you.’

Tilting her chin up, he looked directly into her eyes and she felt she was going to melt. She had the thought he was going to use her and dump her but with all these she just couldn't resist him.
‘Toke,’ he continued, ‘I promise not to disappoint you’
‘But Michael…’ she muttered, and went silent again.
‘Please talk to me, I am listening.’ he insisted.

He felt his chest tighten; he did not realize how deep his feelings were till now.

‘I told you about myself, I don't have relations I know of and with your family, I might not be accepted and.....’
‘Toke, please this has to do with me and you. That is what matters to me.’
‘Let's go’,
He stood up and led her out of Golden gate restaurant, which had become more like their favorite spot over time. When they got to his car, he opened the door for her and watched her slid gracefully into the front passenger seat. The moment he joined her in the car on the driver seat he drew her into his arms, all she could whisper was his name as his mouth covered hers and she melted into his arms. She felt so innocent.

‘Toke, just relax and feel free with me’, he said after he released her.
She responded with a nod still short of words. He dropped her off at home and promised to show up the next day being a Saturday.

******. *******. ********

A relationship like theirs was rare to find. Despite how close and intimate they were, no one knew about I at the office.

Michael gave everything to Toke, his love, money, time and his heart. He spent every free time he had with her. Even Tolu, his best friend had stopped querying him on his whereabouts because he knew Michael was with Toke.

‘Make sure you get her to the altar’, Tolu would say.
‘Sure thing’, Michael always replied with a big grin on his face.

CHAPTER SIX

Toke's lifestyle had taken a new turn since she met Michael. He was all she ever wanted in a man. The fact that he was her employer had nothing to do with their personal feelings. Micheal was so good to her.

Even when her friend, Tinuke met him, she did not think Toke could get anyone better. He was just perfect for her. Michael’s friend Tolu had met Tinuke and he also wanted to have someone like her love him as well.

Toke had been to Michael’s house a couple of times and it was a place to behold. A three winged duplex. His parents and his two younger sisters; Tola and Sade stayed in the master wing, whilst Michael had one of the smaller wings to himself and the third wing was the servant’s quarters. Michael had his privacy and freedom to do whatever he liked. All Tinuke kept praying for was continuity in their relationship.

******. ******. *******

‘Mrs Solape, have you heard the gist?’ A receptionist in Adebayo Group of Companies said to another colleague.
‘What gist?’
‘Toke of course. She finally got Oga into her snare. I suspected all this while.’

Such were the discussions and opinions running round the office; even to Toke's hearing but she simply shut her ears to them all.

*******. ****** ******

She had never stayed away from home but Michael persuaded her this time to spend the weekend at his place and She actually enjoyed herself. All she did was sleep, eat, talk with him and watch TV. He made love to her the first night, and was very surprised at her innocence so he did not disturb her again. The night was only spent sleeping and cuddling. He had plans for her. He intended to get her a new apartment and a car. If he had his way he wanted her to stop working and set up a business for her probably a computer center. All he needed was more time to get used to her.

******. ****** ******

Toke had never been late for work but she could not help it this morning. She had woken up with a terrible headache and she had vomited all morning. She waited till she felt a bit better before she set out to the office.

During her break, she went to the staff clinic and was given some malaria and pain reliveing medication. She felt very lonely because Michael was out of town to attend a seminar. When she wasn't feeling better by the third day, she went for a blood test where she was confirmed pregnant.

She was very scared because it was the least expected worry. How could it be possible she was pregnant when the coupled only once, which was the weekend she spent in his house. Will Michael accept the baby? She had no answers to all the questions running through her head. The only thing to do was to tell him and await his reaction.

*******. *********. *****

‘Toke, just stop talking. What do you mean by saying you are pregnant?’ he was raising his voice.
‘Michael, but....’
‘Don’t interrupt me because I am a hundred percent sure I am not responsible. The fact it was your first time with me proves nothing. I was on contraceptives and I don't expect you to be here saying this.’
‘Michael, I am not lying.’ Toke was sobbing.
‘So who is lying?’ he asked angrily. He was not even looking at her at all.
‘Toke, look for the father of your child and leave me out of this.’
He took his keys and walked out of her apartment.

Only a few minutes back he had been so excited to see her as he returned from the airport after a couple of weeks out of the country. Nothing was adding up. He felt he had taken the necessary precaution and would not be deceived.

The next morning Toke met a dismissal letter awaiting her at the office. Toke felt the world was finally over for her. Why would Michael think she could have cheated on him in anyway? She cleared her desk and left the office.

(TO BE CONTINUED)

Yippee!!! I am making progress. I was typing and I suddenly started getting all so emotional about the story. It felt like I did not write the story in the first place. I guess it's good to feel this way; at least Rikky says so too.

Anyway, not much side gist this time around, just a few questions!

How often do you have a Plan B? A backup plan you fall back on in worse case scenarios.
To what extent would you go to get what you want in life?
When exactly is the time to give up on an issue or desire?
How often do you have personal deadlines to meet?
When does one finally accept defeat over a situation that has gone out of control?

These questions might seem vague but they require answers. For me I definitely don’t have all the answers yet. So, give it a thought, not focusing on any life situation in particular and you could apply it to anyone or anything.

I think I snapped at Bolu on THURSDAY because I was held up in a nasty traffic for four crazy hours. My Oga, sowie bout that (NO VEX).

My new gadget is so cool. (Covers face). It's an addiction I can't help.

 I love you all.
 Have a great weekend.

My Fairy Tale Story (2)

(You can catch up with the first part HERE if you missed it)

Toke worked hard at her job. She never got a query and not for once did she go against the rules of the organisation. She had suffered in the past and wouldn’t let the job go just like that. She had finally gotten a clue to Tinuke’s where about from her sister whom she met. She was serving as a Corper in Ogun State and will soon be back in Lagos. Very soon she would have a companion she could talk to.
Toke’s relationship with the opposite sex was close to nonexistent. She never had time for guys and she believed she just had to get her priorities right. Even in church she didn’t join the youth fellowship to avoid unnecessary familiarity with the guys. She was however cordial in refusing whenever she was cajoled to join. Although the youth fellowship was an avenue for meeting spouses she wasn’t just interested at the moment.

CHAPTER THREE
Good Morning Sir. Toke greeted Michael, the overall boss of the company
Good morning, you are Miss Akinsipe the new secretary to the Executive Director?
Yes sir, she responded.
I hope you are doing well? We do not take chances especially when it comes to keeping the reputation of the organisation.
Yes sir, I am trying my best.
Is your boss around? Yes sir she responded.
With that Michael walked into the Executive Director’s office.
************                          *************                   *************                             ***********
After the day’s job on his way home, Michae saw Toke by the road and stopped to offer her a ride.
Miss Akinsipe, which way are you going?
Palmgroove area sir. Come in and let me drop you off,
Really surprised at the offer, she entered the car’s front seat beside him
During the ride it dawned on him he was having a crush on her.
. Starting from the day he had employed her. There were others who performed better than her during the interview, but still he chose her for reasons unknown to him. There are times he watched her through his office window anytime she went on errands, she lived a simple life. She wasn’t like the other female workers who gossip instead of working. She was always on her seat in her office.
They got held up in traffic for a bit and the silence was getting heavier each second.
Miss Akinsipe. Your first name is what? Michael broke the silence.
Toke, she responded.
Nice name, I don’t mind calling you that, and you can as well call me Michael, no formality please.
Okay sir, she responded.
And please drop the sir stuff.
Almost getting to palmgroove, he asked for the exact location she was going,
Michael, don’t worry, just let me get down at the bus/stop and I will find my way.
No,No,No, which way he insisted. She gave him a description and he dropped her right in front of her house where she was managing a single room apartment.
Thank you very much.
I am really grateful to you.
My pleasure. I guess i will be seeing more of you now. With that he drove off.
***********   ***********   ***********   ***********
After that day, Toke hardly saw Michael. He was a busy man indeed. That day was still fresh in her memory. The sole heir to Adebayo group of companies being so good to her, even offering to drop her off at home. She felt she was too small for him.

CHAPTER FOUR
Hi. Michael whispered behind her ears, been a while i saw you.
Good morning Michael, i have been really busy.
Yeah, busy making money for me.
No, bust earning my keep, Toke fired back.
Wow, very smart of you.
What are doing this evening? Micheal asked with a blank expression on his face
Nothing really, she said that with a simultaneous thud in her chest.
Then I guess you won’t mind if I pick you up at home for dinner.
Em......I...., she didn’t know what to say.
Should we make it 7pm, Toke please.
Ok, I will be expecting you she finally responded.
***********   ***********   ***********   ***********
Where should we go? Michael asked on the way out that evening.
I don’t know anywhere in particular, she whispered. You mean you don’t go out?
Actually I don’t she responded knowing she was being real and had nothing to hide.
Alright, lets to ocean view, it’s quite and cosy to have dinner there.
The date started off well and they picked a seat very close to the water side.
It’s quite cool quiet here, she started.
Yes, that is why I chose here in the first place.
The silence that followed was scaring to her.
Michael was looking at her like he was going to eat her.
Michael did know he was staring at her. She was a lady to behold, the kind of lady you can take home to mama as his friend tolu would say.
‘Your order please, a waiter interrupted their thoughts. Do you want to eat now?
No, I am just ok with a drink she replied.
Fine, he signalled to the waiter to get fruit wine for both of them.
The moment the waiter left she asked him if it was not alcoholic.
Really surprised at her question, he replied, ‘Toke, I think it’s about time I get to know more about you.
Shortly after the waiter bought in the orders and she started to tell him all about her. From how she came to the orphanage and how she suffered to get a bit of education and where she has found herself so far.
I am so sorry, Michael said with so much concern considering he was damn lucky to have been born with a silver spoon family background.
It’s not your fault you don’t have to be sorry she said.
He went ahead to talk about himself and his family and was careful not to hype the level of wealth..
They were so engrossed in their talk that they didn’t realise it was quite late already.
It was almost 10pm when she looked at the time.
Oh Michael, i don’t keep late nights.
So sorry we got carried away, I will get you home.
After dropping her off at home, he told her to sleep well and not rush down to work the next day.
He was short of words when he met her at her table early the next day.
She is indeed my kind of lady he thought.
(To be continued)

Finally i am back after a long break, for no specific reason.
Just not been up to the task of doing all the typing and editing and bla la bla.
But really if I get to stop writing( which I won’t stop), then my blog will be an abandoned project abi?  I won’t stop.

What has been happening? I have been good, sure you are good too. Except my visit to the dentist (maybe that why i am talking with my fingers today. lol). Well, I would recommend you put up with the best oral hygiene, cos the pain no get part 2 and the doctors are without mercy. Hacking and sawing. Yet I paid money for them to give me pains, not like I shared my chocolates and sweets with them sha, so I kinda understand their grievance. Anyway, no sweet things again ( I really mean it this time).

Congrats to JQ, beautiful baby gal. Trust me when I call someone a horse, means she is extremely strong. I need that kinda energy. Not like the” Yerima specs” flying round the office which I have refused to be associated with. (I am not that tiny na).
Good work with “I AM SHADOW”. I have read  your poems and stories they are wonderful although I must confess I didn’t read those law jargons, wetin concern me?  Keep up with the pace tho.

Where is Deronk, is she guilty as charged? No post in ages or I haven’t checked? What is happening to us?
Now this is a food for thought. How well do we take care of our parents? Considering all the sacrifices they have made for us in time past. Who we are today is a function of their effort, whether adequate or not. Let us try and cultivate the habit of appreciating them whenever we have the opportunity to do it. Kudos to AK as regards this, I am so proud of you.

Now, the final and beautiful part.
B&T, I am so excited. Can’t wait again o. Do quick.
KT, hmmm..... Yeah this post is for you, Sowie it took so long.
I will be back soon.

Have a great weekend everyone.

My Fairy Tale Story (1)

Michael, Yes Mum.
When will you start your SSCE Exams?
May 3rd Ma.
Make sure you make good grades, especially in your Accounts, Commerce, Mathematics and Economics. You know they are essential requirements you need if you want to study banking and finance, and you know as well that your father is counting on you to take over the family group of companies which includes a bank.
Yes mom, I have heard you. I will try my best.
That’s my boy, now hurry downstairs or you will be late for school.
He picked up his bag and stumbled out of the house.
I have a lot of responsibilities ahead of me he thought as he went out of the house.

********           ********           *******             ********           *********
Toke, this is the money I promised you, I guess it will last you till the end of the month.
Of cos, thank you Tinuke. You have been an angel to me. Don’t worry; I will start saving for your SSCE also so you won’t be embarrassed from school. Let’s start going to school, otherwise we will be late.
As they went on, Toke thought of what her future will be like. She was only managing. She is now in SS3 and no sponsor to take her up.
She had been a baby picked up on the street, when she got to SS2, the orphanage that  took her up got dissolved due to poor financial funding. She has been on her own since then. The little money she had got her a room at a hostel close to her school and Tinuke her best friend had been of financial help to her occasionally. How to cope after school was the major problem she kept considering.

CHAPTER ONE.

Your credentials please?
Tinuke tendered them to the man interviewing her.
Just an advanced Diploma in Secretarial Studies and basic appreciation in computer? Yes sir, she replied praying he would give her the job.
“Miss Akinsipe”
You know very well the reputation of this company and the qualification we require?
Yes sir.
You can go. There is still a final interview with the Board of Directors. If you have been shortlisted, you will be called upon for the interview.
Thank you sir.
Please God, I need this job badly she thought.
She had seen the vacancy that they needed an HND holder as a secretary. Although she didn’t qualify, she had just applied for the job and was really surprised to get a letter inviting her for the interview. If its Gods will, I will get the job she muttered as she walked out of the Adebayo group of company Complex.
Things had not been rosy for her. After her secondary school, she made excellent grades in her SSCE, she managed to buy a jamb form, which the result was seized. After about two years of doing menial jobs, selling petty items and pure water, she enrolled at a secretarial school, after obtaining an advanced Diploma, she started job hunting, and all in vain she decided to go for a computer course.
Tinuke had not been of much help again, besides they hardly see each other since Tinuke got admission to study medicine in Unilag.
All she prayed for at this moment was to get this job.

******                ****     **********     ********           *******             **********
Tolu, this work is not easy at all. I wonder how my dad managed when he was in control and any time I complain to him, he sees it as normal and tells me he has gone through more.
Michael, are you the one talking like this? You think it is easy to get money? The rich men also suffer to become rich. You just have to do it.
I know but……
Let’s go to the club and chill out, Tolu cut in.
No, I have a busy day tomorrow, got to interview a new set of staff about to be emoloyed and I have got to go to bed early.
Have it your way. With that, Tolu baded him good night and left.

********           *********        *********        **********     **********
Michael went through the credentials of the applicants’, came across the one with the lowest qualification and wondered how she got to the final stage of the interview. He summoned for each applicant and interviewed them. After the whole process, he ended up choosing the lady with the lowest qualification. He didn’t have a particular reason for choosing her asides the fact that he felt she was attractive and smart enough for the job.

CHAPTER TWO
Getting the job to Toke was like winning a visa lottery to the United States. At least she will be getting a regular pay and her problems about accommodation, feeding and clothing will be gradually solved.
One thing still puzzled her, she was the one with the least qualification and yet she got the job. During the final interview, the head of the company had only asked her if she felt she was capable of doing the job, she had replied saying she could do the job. He had told her to report back on Monday and that was it. She got the job. She had no one to rejoice with her, she didn’t have friends or relatives. All she had was God and she was grateful to him.

********           *********        *********        **********     **********
Working at Adebayo Group of companies was exciting as well as tedious. For the past two months she had been working there she woke up as early as 6.30am and closed from work by 3.30pm. she got back home to rest and prepare for the next day’s work. It was a daily routine for her and she hardly went out.

********           *********        *********        **********     **********
Michael Adebayo at the age of Twenty Five had a lot to point to as his achievements; a Degree in Banking and Finance from the university of Lagos , his Master’s Degree also in Banking and Finance from Glasgow university and he had made all his papers in the professional exams from the banking institute.
He was an accomplished banker and the sole proprietor of Adebayo group of companies, which runs different companies including a bank.
His father, still alive had handed over to him and only advised him from time to time.
Michael wasn’t the social type but he enjoyed having a good time with his friend, Tolu. They both grew up and went to the same primary, secondary school and university. Tolu studied Mechanical Engineering and presently works at the maintenance department of Proctor & Gamble worldwide incorporated. They both went to clubs at their leisure. Michael had gone into a few relationships but they don’t usually work out, the ladies are always after his money. He always wished he had a steady date which would stop him from laying ladies just to satisfy his manly desires.

(To be continued)

 Here I am again.
Like I promised in my last post I have started with my story. Wondering how I came about the title? Lol. Given unintentionally by my editor who said it felt more like a fairy tale. Anyway, since it didn’t have a title before now I decided to just name it along those lines. Note that this is raw o! I wrote this way back like 10yrs ago. I have not edited it, it’s just exactly as it was written. Including all the star star star between paragraphs. lol. I give myself a pass mark sha Whatever you think abeg let me know. I will keep posting in parts till the end of the book (Not so long anyway).
Hey, it’s my Mom’s Birthday today (A big Hug). You know how much that woman means to me. She could be nutty a times sha. I love her all the same. Long life and prosperity and more Grandchildren coming your way soon, don’t get tired yet.
What other gist?
Nuffin much. Been Up and down with this weather, my voice is fluctuating because of one yeye cough.
It took me almost a month to come up with this post. Aaaargh. Not good enuff for my blogging career (Ok, I didn’t just say that)
It’s the month of July, Month of Perfection.  I have high expectations.
Have a good one.

A Pleasing Sacrifice

Verse 1
All that I am, all that I have
I lay them down before you, oh Lord
All my regrets, all my acclaims
The joy and the pain, I'm making them yours

(Chorus)
Lord, I offer my life to you
Everything I've been through
Use it for your glory
Lord I offer my days to you
Lifting my praise to you
As a pleasing sacrifice
Lord I offer you my life

Verse 2

Things in the past, things yet unseen
Wishes and dreams that are yet to come true
All of my heart, all of my praise
My heart and my hands are lifted to you

(Chorus)

(Bridge)
What can we give
That you have not given?
And what do we have
That is not already yours?
All we possess
Are these lives we're living
That's what we give to you, Lord

(Chorus)

At the dawn of a new year in my life this is the song I have been echoing in my head all night long.

It feels good to know God and thirst for more of him.

My life isn’t mine it belongs to God and he decides what to do with it whenever.

The song mirrors exactly how I feel and I am really thankful for the Grace to be alive to see another year.

Atofaratibioke, You are worthy of all my Praise.

*Clears throat*

Been MIA for a while, I know. My hands are full, I have been reading, plus I have a new addiction I could stay with all day long and night sef (keep guessing). About the reading, I just finished “Americanah” by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. I loved it. My best part was the last page (pg. 477), yeah;I gave you the page number to go read it. If the book had ended otherwise ... maybe I will still like it sha. It was a perfect finish for me. Very unafrican. Not the usual abeg we can manage kinda situation. Facing facts, seeing through circumstances and acting accordingly. It’s a western way of making decision but really, I like it in this situation.

Meanwhile, I remembered I wrote three (3) short novels when I was in probably year 1 or 2, university days. I got inspired by my self appointed editor to go dig out the manuscript (yeah, I can call it that). However, I found only one.  It was covered with dust, rat and cockroach had pee on it but they didn’t eat it sha, I wonder why. There was also a poem book (No comment on that)

Anyway, I read through and I was really impressed with myself. I think I could write better back then. So I decided to give you the benefit of reading here in parts (cos its too long for a single post) before I publish (that is if I decide to).

What is going on with all my gadgets? My note is in intensive care unit (thank God for warranty). My hard drive is ...ok let me convince myself its the cable acting up or else...I cant just imagine yet. All my movies*sadface*

Like I said in my last post, June is usually an eventful month for me. More events added already. I am looking forward to surprises as well.AK, stop laughing at me cos I think the new Monday is now Tuesday.

Happy birthday in arrears to Mamacita, Moi Big sis & Bro J, Big C hooking up in a couple of months and in advance to Rikky (Big Hug), Gbemsoll and lots more I cant grab at the moment. Wishing us all long life and prosperity in good health and sound mind.

KT dearie, I miss u so much, even if I pretend not to. Come back quick.

I have plans for today. To Start it in God’s Presence. Thank God it’s a Tuesday and I am on vacation. Yay!!!. Was down before the start of this vacay but dammit, I am back in full force. God is on my side. Activities lined up ke; all plans must be actualized no matter how small.

Still in the spirit with the song (Bishop Clarence McClendon version).

Love y’all.

Respect Yourself.

Happy (Belated) democracy day to you!
Not like I have an insight into what happened in the country on the 29th day of May 2013. Guess nothing would happen at Eagle Square Abuja after the Henry Okah saga. Whatever, Nigeria my homeland, it is well with you.

Talking of respect, I have had this thought penned down for about three months now but I just never got to write about it. More like I over looked it.
I went to the Library to read for a solo exam, and barely 30 minutes after I settled into my reading, one of the librarians walks up to a lady a few seats away from me and politely tells her that the use of laptops is restricted to certain areas in the library. She was to stop using the laptop where she was and move to the suggested area or she could remain on her seat and stop using the laptop. The young lady simply obeyed and relocated.

I went for a short break after a couple of hours and came back to my books. Shortly after, the same incidence happened with another lady (I wonder why only ladies). This time around it was quite different. Same instruction was given to the new lady in question but she seemed adamant to stay, insisting that she wasn't disturbing anyone. The librarian did warn her couple of times and came back to check if she had obliged with his instruction but she remained adamant. Considering the fact that it was a library and usually quiet, the librarian tried as much as possible to talk hush hush, but the frequent movement started gaining attention from everyone around.

Sensing it was getting out of hand the man decided to call the attention of a superior officer, who came promptly and gave the lady five minutes to move. Five minutes ko... She didn't budge. Trust me by this time; I was just staring at the lines in my book I wasn't reading anything.  Everyone was distracted already.
The appointed time came and this time around, three officials came and before she could open her mouth to say anything, they helped her packed her books and ‘lappy’ and showed her the way out.
So who is the winner here?

She lost the fight of course! Who is she? VIP? If she is, she won’t be in the same library with me, of that I am sure. So what was the big deal in obeying a SIMPLE instruction? In the real sense of it, she wasn't disturbing anyone directly with the use of her laptop in that space, but there must have been a reason that rule was put in place. As long as the rule doesn't apply to you alone, it should be respected and followed. You could perhaps ask why they had such a rule in place and that’s ok. The first lady that was accosted simply obeyed showing she was more realistic and respectful.

So her action could be as a result of anything.  Family value is on top of my list. Is that how she disobeys orders at home? Can she be an obedient child and wife at all?Considering the fact that the library official in question was much older than her. What the heck was wrong with her?

Bring back the scenario into our everyday lives and think of simple instructions you fail to obey and end up being punished or embarrassed for. Sometimes we think it’s all about being smart, but really it is not. Silly move I must say. That your friend got away with it doesn't mean you will. It’s that simple.

That BRT/one way lane you pass knowing its wrong; keep it up. Your day is coming.

Little things you feel don’t matter actually do.
For instance now, maybe (just saying) a guy had been eyeing that lady quietly in the library and had planned to walk up to her at some point, he witnessed what happened and he is turned off. He immediately sees her as a no go area and just maybe she is single and seriously searching o; she just blew it over.
People read meanings into what you count as little. Save yourself some embarrassment by obeying simple rules.

Personally, I hate being insulted and embarrassed anything that will draw attention to me in a negative manner; I avoid it like a plague. If it happens, I get so upset. That is how much i respect myself.
Shallow talk abi? Keep reading and don’t forget I warned you except of course you are used to being embarrassed; perhaps it’s an everyday thing for you.
My thots as usual.Feel free to express yours.

What’s happening around?
Yippee, my little Scream baby is 1 year old! Whoop whoop!!. 30th May, that’s his day. How time flies. Long life & prosperity dear. I love you loadz. The senior crew will be cruising in. I am so looking forward to this weekend. Fun all the way.
Three (3) years now, Beji has left us. She will always be remembered. KT, you have always been strong, and I admire you for that.*hug*.
So Big brother; the chase, has started, no time to watch as usual but I’m sure I can still catch up with the channel O (now Airtel) party and the Sunday evictions. Mom can always update me on the daily shows. In just a few days sef, I am already seeing things.

So in the last one week I tried to learn how to fly at night, I tried for one night and crashed the next night. Abeg I no fit. My hobby is sleeping copy that. So if I kill my sleep for you, eh... you are loved.
I want you to give this some thought; Most times, we usually have what we get, not what we want. When we eventually see what we want, our hands are full with what we have gotten and we are left with the option of either dropping what we have, to get what we really want, or sticking with what we have. Never mind me, parables ain’t my thing, just giving it a try.*covers face* (Read it again joor!!)
Thumbs up to AK, I trust you as always, it is going to be a walk over for you this time around*wink *wink*Hug*Hug*.
Happy Married Life to Tolulope, I wish you all the best in life as you take this bold step.

On a final note: we are going into the month of June. It is usually the most eventful month of the year for me. My Birth month, loads of birthdays, anniversaries, my Dad’s remembrance and more.
I must mention the Dana Airline Crash. It will be one year in a couple of days, June 3rd. I pray from the bottom of my heart that we would see no such of it again. It was a loss to both the families and the entire nation. The Lord will comfort us all, In Jesus name! It won’t be too much for you to say a word of prayer for the families affected, pray for their comfort and that the peace of the Lord will continue with them.

Happy new month peeps.
Love y’all.

Family Values.

Who is family? Everyone related to you by blood.
The meaning according to the Oxford Dictionary is simply parents and children living together.
Everyone should understand the concept of family because we all are part of one, or at least, used to be part of one and probably intend to start one soon or later.

There is always a thought that triggers what I write about.
I come from a closely knitted nuclear family (don’t really relate with the extended arm).  However, I see a continuing generation from this point that would be close to perfect. Not just being together because you popped out from the same womb but being in harmony with one another, being predictable and mutually beneficial to each other for generations unending.

Some weeks back I had an encounter with a family I relate with closely. It was not nice but on the long run, I realized how valuable a good family is.
Still thinking on that, I then remembered the sermon I heard in church that same day ‘Family is God’s Idea’ by Pastor Kenny Folarin. It was a wonderful and soul lifting message.
I decided to wrap up some of my conclusions on it, coupled with my personal thoughts as usual.

When God made man, He made it clear that He expected man to have a family; every one of us should belong to a family. God’s original intention for us was that we have dominion over the earth and this dominion is continually expressed when we multiply.
I’m sure we agree that the concept of family started with Adam and Eve; so what are we then talking about?
The sermon started on how we relate within the family and expatiated to what happens in the society as a whole. The society comprises of multiple units of families. Everyone in the society is part of a family. No man came into existence in isolation. You are linked to one person or the other.
Our actions and conducts in the outside world mirrors the kind of family we came from and it reflects on our parents. Of course there are a few exceptional cases where we have the rebellious child but really we still have to look inward and find out what went wrong somewhere,as there is usually a point in time when it is too late to make corrections; at least not easily.

We cannot talk about the family without talking about marriage. When you see parents that are not at par with each other, especially in the formative years of their kids what do you expect? A defunct upbringing for the child who ends up in the society is expected, including whatever other terrible behavior you can imagine.
In every covenant relationship, there are responsibilities, which have to be undertaken by each party. Therefore, make your home a place of care and love, not a place where you tear down your spouse and children. No man is an island; appreciate the importance of your spouse and children and you will build love from within the family, which flows outward into the society where everyone interacts.

The family unit is where we first learn how to relate with others. We learn love, submission, honour and patience. Another reason why the family exists is to raise godly offspring. Deuteronomy 6:4-9.
Our first role models are found in the family. We need to build our homes and families on God’s word and biblical standards instead of traditional values, information from the clubhouses or fleshly advice.

Look at the society today, the politician that is mopping money meant for the masses started small. Maybe he started with greed on little things like biscuits and sweets. His parents who are in the best position to instill Godly virtues in him could have corrected him in his formative years. Instead however, we have family systems where there is favoritism among the children by their parents. It goes a long way when they are all grown up.
Most parents leave their children at the mercy of house-helps and nannies who commit all sorts of atrocities that get embedded in the children hence corrupting their values.
What is expected of these children when they get into the society?

The values of a family on the long run are the values of the society.

The Pastor gave an example of a man who never said thank you at home whenever his wife served him food and having corrected him on several occasions without change, the wife stopped complaining.
A time came and he had to travel by air. The air hostess as expected was very nice to him and gave him all he requested for. He requested for the usual, food, drink, magazines, blanket and so on and s usual, he didn’t say thank you.
When the air hostess couldn't take it any longer she walked up to him, ‘Excuse me sir. Please learn to always say thank you’. Everyone around watched the drama and you can imagine how embarrassed the man was. He learnt his lesson the hard way and when he got home he reported himself to his wife. Its was a clear case of ‘charity begins at home’.

So many other factors contribute to societal decay, Family is just one of it.
Like I always say, this is just my opinion. Feel free to express yours.

In other news, loadz and loads of gist which I might have to postpone some.
I haven’t posted in a while; I really don’t have any excuse. My mind is always here and my note-taking book is full of ideas, but one way or the other, I just don’t get to write. I need to work on that.

My sugar abstinence wahala;it’s hard keeping it up. I go to the cinemas and the popcorn is winking and winking and winking and still winking at me. It’s so hard to say no, so honestly, maybe taking it in stages was what I should have done initially.
Well I can successfully say I have gotten over the chocolate part of it. I had a real temptation on Saturday and I overcame it. That’s a good one.

Talking of movies I watched ‘Temptation’ Confessions of a Marriage Counsellor. Was pweety good. Ignore the fact that Kim Kardashian starred in it. Awesome is the word! Women and their palava sha;don’t walk into a ditch with your eyes open; Not all that glitters is actually Gold; Being content matters a lot. You might want to watch it. I am doing all the hype because it really was my kinda movie.

CCTV in the office!!!! Just today it was relocated directly behind my desk. Aaaaargh, whatever, I do not care. The observers would soon be tired of watching.

I must mention the reunion I had with the fantastic four a couple of weeks back. Mama, Kfash, KT and of course our God daughter Fiyin, you guys rock!!!!.Looking forward to more of this with more kids around.

New look with my new pair of glasses. I love it!! Not geeky at all. Different look. No offence to Goldie goggles (copy that. LOL).

I need mention B&T. I am so happy. I can only hope for the best to come out of this.

A big thank you to Riki.

New week will definitely be a blessed one for us all By God’s Grace.
Enjoy.
