January Bug.

Just a recent thot on why January is noted as the longest month of the year. That nursery rhyme says; 30 days hath September, April, June and November, all the rest are 31, except for February.........bla bla bla. I figured out my own reason for why it’s the longest month.
Let me explain, for salary earners, a new month starts the next day after pay-day. In December, pay-day comes early, as early as 15th depending on the coy. So we start counting the new month unconsciously from then. In summary January has about 45 days. However on second thought this theory cant apply to the business owners who are not salary earners, though it’s a cycle sha, so the bouncing effect still gets to them  in terms of low patronage from the salary earners( Its Zinger’s theory, not tested or proven). Based on the clause in this theory I would limit myself by referring to only the salary earners.
So what happens and why do we get bitten by that bug?
In December we definitely spend more, but come to think of it we earn more in terms of Christmas bonuses and other end of the year benefits depending of the coy or organization you work for.
There is the normal excitement in the air that makes you spend more abi? Movies, Beach, hanging around with family and friends that have come into town for the festivities. It’s good to do all that when we do it with sense. Cutting your coat according to your cloth.
Let me first say how my December was, I didn't do any major spending because I didn't have the need. I didn't buy any new cloths because I didn't plan to attend any occasion. Though I travelled for a few days but it wasn't on my tab. No one came to visit me as well (Sure you fink my life is boring). That’s me keeping it single and simple.
For the not so simple lifestyle, I can imagine you had the kids to cater for, as regards Christmas clothes, shoes, father Christmas visit, a couple of movies during the holidays and considering the fact that you will have some visitors who come along to visit and you have to do the usual traditional rubbing of hands when they are leaving. As soon as the holidays end, then school resumes and the fees are there to be paid and the list goes on.
Looking at all these trail of expenses they can’t be avoided, the kids have a right to enjoy. However, they can be modified by putting in place cost cutting measures.
When January finally arrives, the pocket is virtually empty and there are so much expenses waiting to devour you.
All these analysis are well known to us all, so I would say I am just highlighting them for emphasis.
Now to the cost saving measures as recommended by “Zinger Advisory Services” ZAS(actually sounds nice o!!!).
-          Buy their Christmas clothes before the festival frenzy begins. Don’t go and buy their exact sizes o! They are kids and keep growing just buy slightly bigger ones and hopefully it fits on the D day.
-          Invest in a large screen Tv, Video Game, stock the house with cartoons. Never a dull moment. Avoid sharing TV with them let them feel in control. Grubs should however be in abundance.
-          Buy the Grubs in bulk and hide in the house. They should think you just got it whenever you give it out.
-          Let them go see a father Christmas around the neighbourhood  They don’t have to go from Ikotun to lekki to Father Christmas. After all Santa Claus is fake everywhere.
-          When visitors come especially with their kids have snacks and take homes for them in abundance, you don’t necessarily have to drop cash for them. The honest truth is that some parents actually come with their kids to visit because they are sure you will give them money.
I hope I am not spoiling market for “ZAS” already. Seriously sha, all these might work or not but the bottom line is Planning.
Set aside a separate purse whose budget should not be exceeded during the celebration period. That purse should start growing now.  January till October is reasonable. By the time you dish it out without excesses then you will live through January like every other month. So you don’t have cause to wear a long face or live on promissory note.
I am talking to the folks with kids and other responsibilities to take care of.
Single folks like me shouldn't have stories to tell.
You can fire the bullets back at me as usual.
In other news, so much is happening. I haven’t written in a while.
My post on 'Abandoned Project' seems to have the highest rating so far since I started writing. I got a head swelling commendation from AK…. And I know with God on my side the sky is my starting point. You can check it HERE if you haven’t read it. My writing career seems to be smiling already; I will be a guest writer for a couple of publications already. Whenever I write I read over and over again and have the feeling that I can do better, when I got the offers I was elated that after all, I am not so bad.
Elixir is tackling me as I am writing now, telling me I am not so smart (I really thought I was #sobs#). He is saying something about sabotage; I am yet to figure that out.
Lots happening around me, Ghen ghen….. Life is so simple o! My people, It belongs to no one. Be good is all I can say on that.
To Bolu Dear, things happen in life for a reason, God only has answers. I am sure he understand. It can only get better, no other option. Be that man I know.
You know that public holiday we had on Thursday , it was so sweet, I slept like a baby all through and thank God my voice is finally back after about a week, that cough really dealt with me.
February, hmm…… Valentine tinz, I comment my reserve till my next post.
Month of fasting and prayer for The Redeemed Christian church of God. Just 28days. Starting 1st February, Click on the LINK to get the prayer points for the duration. We will all be blessed IJN.
Another week is starting tomorrow, a new month as well; I hope for the best as usual and wish you guys the very best too.
Have a Lovely evening.

Just a medium

Its late but sleep is not anywhere in sight soon. Thank God tomorrow is Friday at least I have the weekend around d corner already. Coffee will do the trick at the office.
Just finished reading my daily devotional (not Open Heavens, I have two now) and it occurred to me that I got the devotional from someone who wasn't going to ever read what he was giving out. It got me thinking how people bless you with what they cant receive blessings for. Ok, lets get this straight. You aint a religious person and you are giving someone else the opportunity to be blessed. I got the devotional from a colleague and I didn't bother to look at it until sometimes last week and wow!! It was very good and has blessed me tremendously. I then realised that he was just a medium for me to be blessed nothing more. I had to be more thoughtful on that. What sort of medium have I been to you? I can't determine that. Its what message I pass to you that will make you judge me. I cant say so much I might have to come back to this topic some other time, but I really want you to give it a thought. Are you blessing people and yet you are not blessed in return?

Its has been a very busy week for me. Extremely busy. It can only get better.
Thanks to everyone that commented on my last post. I was impressed with everyone's opinion. Thank you so much. I hope to get something interesting for you this weekend.
am actually blogging with my note and its So Convenient. Lovely night peeps.

Abandoned Projects

How often do we have the zeal to do something and soon after you start the passion dies and you can hardly move on with it. You end up giving up on it and the dream dies without a proper burial.
The popular lines are…I want to…., I plan to….. I will soon…….continue with this or that
Yeah, happens to virtually everyone. It’s not everything we have set out to do in life that has seen the light of day and even some that saw the light of day didn't make it to the time when the sun is out.
Really, there are some situations in which we can’t help but to abandon the project we set out to do, but most times lack of proper planning is what really affects us. Not making calculated moves.
We all have abandoned projects few or many. It starts from very petty issues as little as picking a book to read, and we don’t finish reading it. This matures into more serious aspects of our lives. Things that could define our future are abandoned. For instance you could start a professional exam and after a few attempts just abandon it. Really maybe you started it because everyone is doing it or you want it for a reason maybe promotion at work, and realizing you are not ready to pay the price on the long run, you postpone it for a more convenient time which never comes and then you abandon it altogether. Really, on the long run it would come back to haunt you. I have a sizeable number of classmates that started my Postgraduate classes with and they are nowhere to be found now. I am sure some of them plan to come back soon.
You could start a business and for one reason or the other it’s not growing at the pace which you would want it and as a result of impatience you gradually pull out.  Dear friend, Rome was not built in a day. Start small and with determination and effort you would see how you will grow over time. When you pull out, you can’t get back whatever resources or energy you have put into it. You would have rather not started at all.
Don’t start what you are not sure of. Don’t start what you are not passionate about. If you have to push yourself to do it don’t bother. Don’t think it will work for you because it worked for your colleague or friend. Shoe get size na!! We all wear different sizes.
Overall, whatever we set out to do in life should revolve about planning. What you are clamouring for at the moment is already in someone’s trash can. Plan well so that you won’t fail.
Also there are projects you have the power to do and your church mind tells you that, but the fear of launching out is there because you have the mindset that; what if this doesn't work out?  You always want to remain in your comfort zone. If you don’t take risk then you risk more (I actually stole that line). Though it’s the truth.
Zig Zigler(of blessed memory) said “It was Character that got us out of bed, commitment that moved us into action and discipline that enabled us to follow through”. The honest truth is all about being disciplined. Follow through on whatever you have set out to do. Stop procrastinating. While you are in doubt someone is making it big out there and you are talking about the person. Let people talk about you too. You might be the next big thing out there if you set out to make that move at the right time.

Rumi said and I quote
”You were born with potential. You were born with goodness and trust. You were born with ideals and dreams. You were born with greatness. You were born with wings. You are not meant for crawling, so don’t. You have wings. Learn to use them and fly.
And finally on this issue, I would leave with the following parting words; it’s not about starting, it’s about getting to the end successfully.
As usual I would say Zingerthots is all about my opinion feel free to express yours.
Now, let’s move to other things.
I chose some random blogs to follow when I started blogging, there were quite a lot but I have been inspired greatly by just a few of them. Worthy of mention is Deronk via hitnrunmullings. I subscribed to her posts and enjoy them. It’s also a personal blog which was why I got attracted to it in the first place. Keep it up dear.
Meanwhile I noticed today that the word “Blog” does not exist in the dictionary. Why?
I heard of the sad news about a young doctor that was shot in the head in the traffic. When things like this happen I wonder why. It’s so painful to know that just for a little cash or a phone, a life is taken and ……….. I don’t like hearing things like this especially when the year is just still fresh. May his gentle soul rest in peace and God will continue to keep the rest of us.
Many thanks to my ardent readers, Sola_ola actually buzzed me that I hadn’t posted in a while and I gave him my word that this weekend I would. I have a very busy schedule like I said in my last post. And with the Morale of Today’s post I don’t want to have any abandoned project again.
Elixir, congrats on that Okere, tis very correct and alright. You also said I write like I talk……hmm I don’t really agree. My writing is toned down in comparison with how I talk. Anyway, some other readers have told me that. Thanks for the observation.
It’s another weekend, and January is rolling away gradually. For those that have New Year resolutions I hope you have not derailed yet? I wish you the best. I don’t have any.
My motto for the year is “It can only get better”.
Y’all enjoy your weekend.

Food Matters

How far would you go for food?
Yesterday, I did not eat any real meal. All I had for the day was junk that I just needed to get a little energy that's all.
I woke up this morning very hungry, yet I went back to eat junk knowing I had a long day of training at the office today. During training I got thinking, is it like I am not hungry for real food or what?
The answer flashed right into my head almost immediately, I am not a food freak. I am not watching my weight (y'all know that or else I would disappear soon), I have a high pain threshold for hunger. (don't mind my grammer). When there is no food or there is no time to eat I do not stress myself immediately.(I am talking of short periods here o!! not a matter of days). Hunger I know can cause chaos in our body system. However, how long can you hold it?
Well, that is a question only you can answer,I just said mine.
Now, I would talk about the issue of those who are always hungry.
Common with men, they are hardly filled up but like the economist would say, there is always an optimal level of satisfaction. It all depends on your feeding habit overtime and maybe the size of you stomach( I know I am yarning dust already, just looking for a way to enter the actual topic, so lemme hit the nail on the head in my next paragraph).

How often have you gone to a party and you share a table with someone who goes for everything being served at the party. Fills up his/her tummy and still goes ahead to take as much as possible home.
Very common with the female folks abi? That is what you think, but men are now becoming experts at it too. we see them strolling out of parties with bottles of wine. Food or wine, all na same.
I eat what my tummy would conveniently accommodate on a good day(which is actually not much). You aint lucky at all parties which is why you should eat before setting out to the venue to avoid your head following trays around the place hoping its your turn.
Take away aint good enough. If you are actually given by the host, good for you but its not decent enough to ask for extra when you have had your normal ration. its not mandatory you have to taste all the items on the menu. Rice, Ofada rice, amala, Semo, pounded yam,ogufe,....... kilode, na your throat them de pass go Aso Rock?
No disrespect here but I tend not to associate with people like that. I don't have any friend liked that sef. we eat and go home shikena.
It really doesn't matter if you are close to the host or whatever. we are talking about food here. I hate insults how much more if i am insulted over food.
As usual I am expressing my thoughts on this issue o!!! hopefully I have not stepped on toes, but I guess not cos you are all decent set of readers. Meanwhile you should remember my position on parties in my previous  post on "Occassions and Moi". if you didnt get to read that you can see it HERE).
As usual in other news:
Wink Wink, finally I finally got my dream Android, Galaxy Note II, Mwaaah to you. You know yourself. I am so loving it.No dis respect to my Blackberry here. Kunle has been beefing me all week. Even Kenny B too cos my screen is wider than her S3( but really S3 was the overall best phone for 2012), lol. Really good starting 2013 with that. To my advisor Sola_ola, thanks a bunch your advise came in handy( No beef for you as regards Bibi, sure we are cool on that.)
My chuchuwawa nephew will be 3 yrs next week, hmmm, more like 5yrs to me with his smartness, i love you dear.
Its been a very busy period for me, usually like that at this time of the year at work to complicate issues I am in a new department with a new boss, Cool boss o!!. (I go work extra sha, but i dont mind i wouldnt rather have a mean boss).
Well, I have to go now cos I picked up my lappy to do stuff on my project and alas I am posting this. Good one though. Tomorrow is the first Sunday in the new year. Thanksgiving in my church,I have to put on my dancing shoes. I have so much to thank God for.
Cheers to you all and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Year of Crowning Glory.

Happy New Year to everyone.
It is actually the 4th day of 2013 and i admit i am a bit late in doing this, so sowie.
I have been quite busy and i would definitely keep this short cos i have to get back to my work asap.
I love you all and i am looking forward to a fabulous year ahead for myself and you.
I pray all our heart desires will be fulfilled.
Its going to be a year of recovery for all. Just like Job recovered double of everything he lost. (Job chpt 42 from watch night service sermon in church). This is also linked to the title of my post.
Hopefully i would be able to pen down something over the weekend.
Enjoy.
